Abstrak

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini menekankan pada isu perundungan (bullying) yang sudah kerap terjadi di lingkungan sekolah. Program PKM ini diadakan dalam bentuk seminar yang berisi pemaparan materi seminar, aktivitas bertanya dan menjawab serta berdiskusi. Dengan menitikberatkan pada langkah-langkah pencegahan, studi ini bertujuan untuk memberi pemahaman terhadap kaum pelajar, pendidik dan pihak-pihak yang terlibat dalam bidang pendidikan mengenai cara mencegah tindakan bullying yang terjadi di kalangan pelajar sekolah dengan menggunakan media film. Studi ini dapat bermanfaat untuk memberi kontribusi terhadap perkembangan teori sastra, budaya, pendidikan dan bidang-bidang lainnya yang relevan serta menjadi referensi pendukung bagi peneliti-peneliti yang membahas tentang isu bullying di masa mendatang. Dengan menggunakan teori representasi, studi ini mengemukakan bahwa film-filma Amerika tentang isu bullying kerap menunjukkan adegan yang berkaitan dengan kekerasan fisik, kekerasan verbal dan trauma. Berkaitan dengan itu maka, film-film tersebut sering melukiskan bullying melalui ketiga potret tersebut.
